Day 8: How do invision your life being in 5 years?
Ah, the infamous five year plan.
I have heard, so much, about the importance of having a five year plan but I have never taken the time to actually write one out. I have a general idea in my head. But it just floats around up there, along with a bunch of other things like this week’s grocery list, bills I need to pay, an idea for a knitting project and whether or not the Kardashians are legitimate humans or not (they probably aren’t).
In five years, I will be 33.
By the time I’m 33, I hope:
I’m pregnant again. We want a pretty good gap between Ezra and our next child, mostly because I don’t think I can handle two under two. Or two under three. My sister and I have a 7 year age difference. That’s far enough apart that we had a lot in common when we were younger, then experienced a small period of time where we didn’t share the same interests, then she caught up with me and we share a lot of things again. It’s a good gap. So I’m hoping with Ezra, he will be 5-6 years older than his sibling. Not only that, he will be in school by then so that will give me time alone with a newborn, instead of having to juggle two kids at once.
We live in a bigger house, in a different neighborhood. I truly, truly love our house. It’s really beautiful and we are lucky to have found a house with so many great updates in our price range. BUT. It is in a crummy area. We knew that when we moved in, but we overlooked it. I’m regretting that choice now, but there isn’t anything we can do about it right now. We’re looking forward to, hopefully, moving next year or thereabouts.
I have a successful Etsy shop. I can’t tell you how many businesses I have begun and abandoned. I’m not going to tell you because, frankly, I don’t feel like remembering it. But the Charmingly Modern shop makes me feel happy. Even though it stands empty – for now!! – I have big plans for it. I’m really excited about those plans, too. It’s time to start going after something that I want and I really hope to see that dream grow by leaps and bounds in the next five years. And I’m not even defining “success” monetarily (although making some money would be nice!). I’m defining it in the sense that I can just say I tried it, and it worked.
Alex and I are involved in a church that fits our needs. We are in between churches right now. It’s a weird place to be. We are still members at the church we’ve bheen attending for awhile (I’ve been there for about 8 or 9 years. It’s been about 6 years for Alex), but we are actively looking to attend another church. We plan on still attending our home church once a month, but for the other remaining Sundays each month we’re looking for a church that has a good children’s ministry and members who are at the same point in their life as we are. It’s been fun trying out churches the last couple Sundays and I’m hoping we find a good fit soon.
So, that’s not exactly a plan, pe se, but it’s a few general ideas at least! I’ll have to revisit this post in five years and see how we did 🙂
